Art therapy is a mental health profession and art therapists are credentialed mental health professionals trained in a the use of a wide range of psychological theory and practice. Art therapy improves the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities by using active art-making, creative processes, psychological principles, within the therapeutic relationship. You don’t have to have any particular art experience or expertise to participate in art therapy and minimal materials are required. For those clients interested in working with more than a paper/pen or pencil I am happy to provide a materials starter kit.
Fore more information about art therapy as a profession check out this art therapy fact sheet created by the American Art Therapy Association: FACT SHEET.

My experience includes work in community based mental health care settings working with adults, adolescents, children and facilitating groups. I am a sex positive and LGBTQI+ supporting and neurodivergent affirming clinician. I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and often integrate principles from DBT, working with my clients to create space in their lives for both change and acceptance.
I recognize that mental health care is not separate or immune from racist systems and potentially harmful power dynamics. I am committed to identifying, addressing and dismantling those aspects within myself and within my control as a private health care practitioner and community member.
